My work celebrating the summer solstice.
Delphiniums, poppies, anemones, gerbera daisies, peruvian lilies, willow, ginger leaf, aspidistra, and sundrops.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in a Sogestsu workshop again and to be part of this vibrant community.
The further along I go on the journey of ikebana, the more I am learning about my own preferences. I love working with color. Ikebana is minimalist and many of the early lessons are very restrained. That restraint is helping me now, even as I work with brighter and fuller arrangements. The space is still central. The lines are important. The feeling I’m working to evoke emerges gradually, through the steady process of starting small, taking risks, changing my mind, making small adjustments, incorporating feedback from my sensei, and then stepping back to see again with new eyes.
Wild and free, contained all the same. I’m so happy with this one!
