I recently received some praise in this incredibly nice letter from one of my buyers. This gentleman purchased my jazz painting of Bunk Johnson (see the photo below). I think it is as important to celebrate our successes, as it is to listen to criticism, and nothing makes me happier than a happy client.

One word: GREAT.
I absolutely love your work. The black canvas shows your genius; and building the painting by mixing and overlaying colors gives it texture. The eyes are magnetic for the viewer’s; but most of all (for me) it’s the cigarette smoke and the mouth of the horn.
The horn with its greenish-white-ish swirls on the black canvas and the smoke waffing upwards adds the mystery and night time naughtiness of jazz clubs.
This is a wonderful piece of art and I’m going to be studying the placement in the apartment so it will get the right daytime and evening lighting that it deserves.
