This mural was one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve ever painted. I love Hawaiian flora, and rather than following a detailed plan, I allowed the composition to evolve naturally. I began with the banana tree, followed by the plumeria tree on the far right, then added each new element as the painting suggested it. The hibiscus came next, followed by the palm, with ferns, orchids and butterflies gradually bringing the mural to life.
Looking back, I’m grateful that following my curiosity led me here. Art has given me opportunities I never expected, and I continue to appreciate every one of them.
